River Rafting

The River Kali situated in the Western Ghats, in Uttara Kannada District of Karnataka is one of the best stretches for River Rafting in South India.Close to a town called Dandeli, the rafting trails runs downstream for about 9 km. . These rapids are rated as Grade II – Grade III, hence considered to be exciting as well as safe since you are accompanied by professional instructors. Guidelines on using Ores, safety instructions and gearing up with helmets and life jackets, the event could run well into your day.

Kayaking

A kayak is a small, light, narrow boat, pointed at both ends, with a covering over the top, the paddler is seated and uses a double-bladed paddle pulling the blade through the water on alternate sides to move forward.It was initially used for hunting and fishing. It’s aOlympic level sport and also very popular adventure sport. There are different types of kayak in professional sport levels. For recreational purposes one-seater kayak and two-seater kayak are more popular.

Kayaking is offered at some stretches of Kali river and alsobackwaters of Supa dam. While kayaking on rapids needs more skill, it’s safer on still waters. Trainers specialized in kayaking teach the dos and don’ts necessary for conducting this activity. Safety measures like life jackets and helmets are in place.

Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary (Kali Tiger Reserve) has earned its place as a paradise for Bird Watching thanks to the hundreds of species finding its home here along with many seasonal migrating birds. Best time for birding is around the fruiting season of fig trees in winter (October to April).
